“What Causes Anxiety Attacks?..”

What causes anxiety attacks? To answer this question we should be very well versed with the word anxiety itself. So what are anxiety attacks? What exactly is anxiety? Anxiety is basically a psychological/ mental state characterized by a feeling of uneasiness. And is caused by many factors. Do you think that you are the only one feeling anxiety? Well no, almost everyone feels anxiety at some point or the other. People may feel anxiety for various reasons but the most recurring one anxiousness. And such attacks in which you may feel uneasiness and feel losing control are called anxiety attacks. Fortunately they can be cured, i.e. any one with the will power can overcome anxiety attacks.

What causes anxiety attacks is still a disputed topic. According to some physiological researchers anxiety attacks are caused by chemical imbalance in brain but up until now, there is no evidence to back this theory mainly due to the fact that the exact causes cannot be pin pointed. Another hypothesis is that it’s genetic, that is inherited from parents on a subconscious level. This one also does not have any substantial proof backing it up.  What causes anxiety attacks is the shift in the behavior of amydgala, the small organ in brain which is responsible for regulation of anxiety response. When this organ is confronted with any anxiety provoking action such as an anxiety provoking thought action or situation then these anxiety attacks occur.

Anxiety attacks are basically caused when there is an imbalance in the emotions (major imbalance) of a person and/or when that person is unaware or doesn’t know how to react to a particular anxiety provoking situation or action. This is what causes anxiety attacks and may worsen differing from individual to individual. Some examples of events that are likely to cause anxiety attacks in the individuals are like death of a close relative or family member, use of drugs or monetary problems, basically anything which is enough to throw your mental outset out of gear. These do not have to be necessarily the only reasons, any event that can trigger a strong emotional response from an individual, which can be the cause of an anxiety attack on that individual.

Some people can also get anxiety attacks when facing less severe traumatic attacks than those listed above. So whether a certain set of events will trigger an anxiety attack on an individual depends from person to person. It may have certain effects on someone and entirely different effects on another. It is all people specific. So, what causes anxiety attacks is a difficult question to answer.

But despite all the above different causes of anxiety attacks (of which some may apply to you and some may not) you are not supposed to be able to pin point the exact cause of the anxiety attack that grips you. Irrespective of what causes anxiety attacks, their treatment is same regardless.

So if you are suffering from anxiety attacks due to any reason stated in this article you can get yourself treated for it, and that’s the best part, its completely curable!!
