In this busy and challenging life, anxiety attacks have become a routine in the lives of many people. The incidence of anxiety or panic attacks has been on the rise. One needs to have tolerance and patience to control this anxiety or panic attacks so that they can lead a normal lifestyle. It is essential to achieve fast and quick relief in overcoming anxiety as if anxiety is untreated then it shall continue to grow and the sufferer may get susceptible to other complaints like depression and chronic fatigue. If anxiety is not taken care for longer periods then vitamins and minerals are withdrawn from the body and the wear and tear takes place on the body.

There are various methods by which overcoming anxiety can take place quickly and effectively. Some of such steps are discussed in brief below:

1.  A few deep breaths can be taken. By breathing in heavily and breathing out slowly, the heart rate can be lowered and it can help in calming the mind.

2.  Try to relax, haste and rush should be avoided as it can increase the adrenaline which in turn can increase the intensity of the panic symptoms and prevent overcoming anxiety.

3.  Divert your attention by listening to music or by reading some book till the symptoms of the attack subside. Focusing on the attack shall only highlight the discomfort experienced by the sufferer.

4.  While experiencing the attack avoid analyzing it, allow it to occur and pass because excessive thinking regarding the triggering factor may again heighten the adrenaline and increase the emotions.

5.  Your mind and heart should be kept free from any grudges which shall prevent the onset on any other attack.

6.  Recite a small prayer.

7.  Take few deep breaths and count to 10.

8.  Quick exercising is helpful in overcoming anxiety. Quick exercise helps to loosen the muscles in the neck and upper back.

9.  Try to visualize something soothing and calm. Close your eyes, take three deep breaths, and visualize a relaxing scene, such as walking in a garden, spending time with loved ones, etc.

10.  Adequate sleep is to be taken every night. Minimum of at least 8 hours sleep is required.

11.  Munch on some snacks that are rich in carbohydrates as carbohydrates helps stimulate the release of serotonin, which helps to induce calmness.

12.  Drinking water helps in cooling the body and also helps in overcoming anxiety.

13.  Consumption of healthy foods should be encouraged and junk food should be avoided.

14.  Reduce consumption of sugar, caffeine and nicotine.

15.  Taking a walk can help in overcoming anxiety as it forces you to breathe more deeply and helps to enhance the circulation.

16.  Try to be quite clear regarding your limits and avoid trying to please everyone at all the times.

17.  Take a hot bath.

The above mentioned steps shall help in overcoming anxiety rapidly and effectively and shall help to calm the patient and avoid worsening the anxiety attacks.
