Today, in the corporate world managerial skills are very important, no matter where you work and whatever the nature of work, the ability to speak in a group and address a group of people (be it subordinates or peers) is indispensable. However despite the rise in the number of business graduates and number of people entering professional world, very few are actually able to handle public speaking rather well. It may be so because of various reasons, but the one I will highlight in this article is panic attacks and how to overcome panic attacks.

Panic attacks are triggered by the fear of speaking in the public, which itself may be because of many reasons, not being able to overcome panic attacks being one of them. This fear of public speaking can come so swiftly to you that you may not realize it, and feel as if you can’t breathe in!! These attacks ruin your public speaking capacity and as I said in the professional world, your career. But, fortunately there are ways to overcome panic attacks. A  few of them are listed below for you reference.

* The first thing that you have to realize is that it is easy to overcome panic attacks and they can be dealt with. But, this is only possible if you have a will to do so. Follow the following simple steps and they will help you overcome panic attacks. This indeed is the most important tip!

* Practice: one way in which you can deal with panic attacks is practice. If you know in advance about a speech or a lecture or a briefing then prior preparation can help you overcome panic attacks.

* Confidence building: if you start doing the above exercise then it will help you deliver good performances, this in turn will boost your performance and this in turn will help you further fight and overcome panic attacks.

* Deep breathing: yes, this may sound very weird but deep breathing while you sense a panic attack in the offing can help you overcome panic attacks.

* The fear of fear: every time you have a panic attack it may start with the thoughts like this in your mind: I can’t do it, I won’t be able to handle this. Ward off these thoughts. This will definitely become  easier to overcome panic attacks, for you once you have gained sufficient confidence in you and that can be achieved by following the above points.

These above listed points are sufficient to help you see your way through to overcome panic attacks. These points are to be kept in mind along with the thought and aim to overcome panic attacks. The only way to overcome panic attacks and speaking in front of crowd is to actually practice it. Don’t try to run away from public speaking, it will only worsen for you.
